Sept 18th: Hooray for for the HARVEST MOON 🌕 + it's CHEESEBURGER 🍔 Day! & 🥳 HBD Uncle G❣️

originally SEPTEMBER 18TH was assumed would be the main day of this year’s HARVEST MOON, a larger than usual full moon (aka “super moon”) closest to the Autumnal Equinox….. the expectation that the Harvest Moon would be especially bright beginning on September 17th with peak illumination occurring on the evening of September 18th and continuing to appear full through the 19th as well. WELL , like the weather these things aren’t always precisely predictable until we get closer to the time frame and new info suggests that the Harvest Moon in 2024 will now reach its peak on September 17, 2024, at 10:34 PM EDT and will BEGIN to appear exceptionally brighter and fuller than usual from September 16th through September 18, giving us approximately three days to enjoy its illumination.

The name Harvest Moon is said to have derived from Native American, European and “colonial American” cultures — the latter I assume is the code word for the enslaved American residents of African heritage who were the nation’s first mass farmers, agriculturalists, harvesters and such and among the main colonial era folks who were responsible for keeping track such phenomena as it was intrinsically linked to their productivity and yields (i.e. more light, longer work days) which were directly connected to the quality of their lives (i.e. offsetting potentially harsh punishments for not maximizing things) …

As you can see from the volume of my amateur moon photos I’ve taken over the years (a la iphone) in the carousel below , i’ve got a ‘thing’ for the full moon…

Most of those moon pics I took right here in Brooklyn — except for the one or two you’ll notice have palm trees in them— from times I’ve been looking up in the sky on the Left Coast out there in Cali. Can you spot which one(s) are pics of a Harvest Moon?! [CLUE: only about one or two in total]
