America was multi-everything right out the gate!
My birthday, July 3rd, precedes what’s considered to be America’s birthday, July 4th 1776, the date of the signing of the Declaration of Independence from Great Brittain. Did you know that a month later that same year (1776) right here in NYC, on the very street where I reside (the very same street I share with the Old Stone House of Brooklyn — where i coincidentally celebrate my birthday almost every year —also marks the spot and the START of the American REVOLUTIONARY WAR. That’s right, the “Battle of Brooklyn” (aka the "Battle of Long Island") apparently took place right outside of my present day front window and carried on for two days continuing further south in the Slope towards and into the grounds that now comprise Greenwood Cemetery )…. (Consider today’s post little prequel to more detailed August 27th-29th “Battle of Brooklyn” posts. But for now, what exactly is it i mean by “Multi-Everything” in the title line above?…
