As someone with a bona fide wheat gluten allergy, I admittedly don’t feature a lot of bread-centric content… Nonetheless, this gem from my photo vault is picture-perfect for today’s ‘food holiday’ theme!

Throwback photo of what might look like a fancy-ish Communion at Church of Park Slope’s Night Church Service some moons ago. Yes, that’s a fresh, flaky croissant on the communion plate—because why not? Before getting cut into smaller pieces and shared with participants, it could’ve been on a one-way trajectory to day-old bread heaven (aka a trash bin). But in a cafe-anchored community of eco-friendly foodies, we come up with all kinds of creative alternatives first. Waste not, want not —Amen to that! 🥐🍷🙏
