Yay hooray for Daiquiri Day! Fond memories of celebrating Daq Day during a fab fam vacay….by Tonya Hopkins aka @TheFoodGriot

That time I turned my part of the Hopkins-Parham Hawaiin hotel suite into the happy hour spot during one of our family vacays. We were all a bit weary of over-priced drinks that honestly weren’t as good as the ones I make! So I was inspired to pleasantly surprise erribody— by making a variety of delicious daiquiris using fresh tropical fruits and ingredients I bought at the local Lihue farmers market! (And of course lots of local RUM from nearby stores)…

What were some of the flavor combos I featured you ask? At my impromptu pop up: the "Fresh from Lihue Farmer’s Market & ‘Homemade’ in the Hotel Room” DELICIOUS DAIQUIRI BAR …? As you can also see from the colorful digital flyer I whipped up (in the first moving image/pic) fab flavor combos included:

  • PAPAYA 🍑PINEAPPLE 🍍

  • BANANA 🍌 GINGER 🫚

  • MANGO 🥭 COCO 🥥

  • + a CREATIVELY CONCOCT option: COME UP WIT YO OWN COMBO! 💡🌺🌴🥥 🍹💡

+ SAVORY SALTY 🧂SNACKS 🥨🍿🥟 …. & FUN COCKTAIL TRIVIA GAMES 🎯🎲🎴🃏..

can you see the weariness in my eyes at the partially outdoor hotel bar on-premise? lol (woe is NOT me lol) their drinks are pretty good- although sometimes too sweet for me …

Sourcing good ingredients: Lots of lovely local farmers markets on Kauai …

ripe mangoes, pineapples, bananas oh my!… - Lihue Farmer’s Mkt

Sunrise? Sunset? Wonderful view from the ‘happy HOURS room’ either way ….

Want at least one of my daiquiri recipes ? Not a bad idea considering that we do have access to tropical fruits stateside (see pics below). If you’re already one of my Patreon ‘Peeps’ then just DM me there for what you want & if you’re NOT then please do become one so that you too can get access to many of my creative flavor-filled RECIPES (oft served up as vids!) + other VIP content, invites & special scoop. I look fwd to see you there❣️

(Stateside: A nice tropical selection sprawled out in mama’s sunny So. Cal kitchen… )

(Stateside: exotic fruits pics I took at a Foodtown here in Brooklyn a few blocks away)

Thirsty for the MIA rum narrative in this post? Well you’ll have wait til August (Rum month) when I go on and on about that amazing ages-old elixir …
