Jan 4th is Spaghetti Day!

SO glad that those of us who are gluten challenged don’t have to give up fave foods like spaghetti….

a packet of Luigi Vitelli spaghetti made from corn flour my fab food influencer friend Jackie Gordon gave me to try once upon a time, i recall really enjoying it!…

Below is a slide show of delicious pics of “GDH” Grandma Dendy’s Homemade (as in Spaghetti Sauce). …

When i was Hosting “Savory & Sweet Food History & Culture” I had a wonderful conversation with entrepreneur Lindsey Dendy, Principal of the LinDen Group on how she harnessed her African American Grandmother’s culinary legacy —and legendary spaghetti sauce — and was able to bring it all to market in modern America (no small feat). As a food historian focused on the myriad and undeniable Black influences on American foodways I couldn’t help but connect the dots from the bigger picture cultural context (i.e. how Black people, women in particular, were the “Cooks of the Nation” for centuries for every type of food imaginable) to the Dendy family’s personal story. It’s a wonderful convo that seamlessly weaves facts from the past with the present — highlights of which will be part of the Black History Month video series I’m compiling for ya’ll. So please show some love and support on my PATREON so i actually have the resources to get it done and thanks in advance!
