May 21st is "National Strawberries & Cream Day"...

Naturally, ‘National Strawberries and Cream Day’ would take place in late May aka “strawberry month”….

Below is a selection of sundry iPhoto iterations of my many encounters with strawberries and some form of cream:

Strawberries sit atop the crispy , crunchy caramelized crest of a crème brûlée — one of the documented dessert dishes known to have been introduced by the enslaved chef James Hemings (America’s FIRST classically trained chef of any hue or heritage!) …via Jefferson’s many dinner tables (e.g., in Paris, VA, PA. NY)

Plump juicy strawberries decorate a whipped cream frosted cake celebrating a fab colleague and friend, Shawné Lee of Abolitionist Place… Whipped cream is yet another dessert related item introduced to and ultimately popularized in America via Chef James Hemings

a simple dessert of strawberries (and blueberries) stirred with turbinado sugar topped with freshly hand whipped cream at Sara’s spot in Cape May…

a delicious fresh strawberry glaze delightfully drizzled over creamy cheesecake celebrating my birthday with fam friends Joy & Brad at Stella’s Caribbean not too many moons ago

A screen pic I took of an indulgent scene involving strawberries and all kindsa candied creams from the 2006 movie “Marie Antoinette” … Why? well, it was at this exact dipstick in time that James Hemings (b. 1765) was studying culinary and working in the French royal kitchens while in Paris France (1784-1789) with Thomas Jefferson and during Marie Antoinette’s reign. Yes, they met… [Ya’ll gotta join my Patreon at any paid level if you wanna get more of that juicy scoop]… click that link either way to see a special (free!) audio/video treat nonetheless, no strings attached & enjoy!
