November 17th's National Homemade Bread Day 🍞🥖🥐🥨🥪🥯🫓...

National Homemade Bread Day: an annual food ‘holiday’ that encourages amateur bakers of all walks to make homemade bread, something our ancestors from all over the globe had to do on the daily before you could buy it already sliced in plastic bags and store it in a freezer for freshness…

Speaking of, can you spot the entirely moldy bag of gluten-free bread I spotted once — and snapped 2(!) pics of before I alerted the manager at a fancy grocery store in my gentrified ‘hood… Yeah so, gluten free breads for whatever reason spoils much faster than regular bread… which might help to explain why so many modern manufacturers of it add sugar and such for greater shelf stability (which I can’t stand b/c i’m tryna by BREAD not CAKE!)…

Anyway, each pic below has some kinda culturally-rooted story, Join my PATREON for more and learn the link between ancient beer and bread making that originated in on the African continent…

At some point remind me to tell ya’ll about how I learned (and happily experience!) how sourdough (wheat) breads can be an option for some of us challenged with modern manufactured breads — something I learned just over a decade ago at a culinary professionals intensive in upstate NY…

Join my PATREON if you’re interested to learn the oft untold history behind these and other food & drink ‘holidays’
