Happy Ramadan 2024
I’m historically, culturally and religiously influenced by (and for the most part regularly practice) the Christian faith, nonetheless I want to acknowledge that today March 11th marks the beginning of the holy fasting month of Ramadan in the Islamic religion throughout the world including here in the US. It’s one of the most sacred times of the year for Muslims signified by spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and devotion with messages of blessings, peace and prosperity for loved ones, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness and compassion. There are different customs, practices and traditions across countries and regions, most notably: fasting, praying, and participating in charitable activities.
The food/non-food front involves the communal iftar (breaking the fast) and suhur (pre-dawn meal) feasts with foods served at traditional communal iftar meals.
