Sept 8th: Happy 🪐Star Trek🛸 Day! Yup That's Me You See Next to Kirk & Yes I Have Related Food (well, DRINK!) Stories For This ;)...

Pleasant surprise re-discovery in the “specialty shirts” section of my closet… a 25 year old T (shirt) you can see here above — from when I (even younger than 25 at the time!) worked in “THE biz” out there in LA LA Land. Yup, you’re looking at a photo-shirt of me standing on the deck of the Starship Enterprise with Captain Kirk and Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy!…

Want the back story, the scoop and all the tea? Actual tea was involved btw! with a Star Trek Captain no less — well, the actor playing one lol)…Well you’ll have to become part of my Patreon for said backstories and the spilling of said tea — from when I worked on the lot at Paramount Studios in Hollywood in the 1990’s while TWO Star Trek shows (maybe a movie too!) were in production at the same exact time (i.e. “Next Generation” AND “Deep Space Nine” on the TV front)… AND part of my job was interacting with the actors (e.g. Levar Burton, Sir Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks…) on the regular including actually (almost) having tea in a trailer once upon a time ☕️🫖 🤣 …

Brief History of Star Trek Day for extra context:

The very first “Star Trek” episode aired on September 8th 1966 — hence the date of this ‘holiday’. .. Although ratings weren’t all that great, and the first Star Trek show (which i call original recipe) only lasted for 3 seasons of production, it’s no newsflash to say that the show went on to garner an entire cult following (fueled by all the reruns that aired on broadcast television from 1969 through the rest of the 20th century…) spanning numerous additional tv series, films and merchandise. As one of the most recognized and influential sci-fi ‘brands’ globally. It’s a cultural phenomenon. Oh and there’s Star Trek convention(s) which started in the early 70’s and continues to present day….attended by thousands and thousands of fans each time…

To this day Star Trek is Paramount Studios’ most successful franchise in the studio’s whole history (since 1912).. The movie, “Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan” was the first profitable content from the franchise (that’s the scene you see pictured here (pun intended)…
