About REMEMBRANCE FESTIVAL: Food & Public History Advisor to The Old Stone House (OSH) of Brooklyn,Tonya Hopkins, aka The Food Griot, hosts this onsite event for drinks and small plates in recognition of the global season of Remembrance. On Veterans Day (formerly known as Remembrance Day) join us as we explore historical, cultural and traditional “Days of Remembrance” that take place around the globe during the Autumn season.
Culinary historian, author, and public speaker Sarah Lohman will be cooking (and reading) from her new book, “Endangered Eating: America’s Vanishing Foods” using the outdoor wood-burning hearth. Also featuring Claire Bellerjeau, Author of: “Remember Liss: The Remarkable True Story of One Woman’s Enslavement and Freedom in New York”. Plus artisan food samplings from Ashbell’s Premium (All Natural Applewood Smoked Duck Breast) and relevant food & drink history (+ demo) from yours truly…
Meet filmmaker Neville Farmer and watch his award-winning short film “Festival Oaxaca”: This 10-minute short centers around Oaxaca’s celebration of their ancestors and Eléctrico Mezcal’s ties with Oaxacan culture, celebrating the ancestors and the dearly departed.
