About this event:

The paperback edition of Sarah Lohman's book "Endangered Eating: America’s Vanishing Foods" comes out in Nov 2024 with a newly added upfront section: "A conversation between the author Sarah Lohman and Tonya Hopkins, aka “The Food Griot,” a food and drink historian and advisor for the Old Stone House of Brooklyn and their Food & Public History Program."

In a recent "Gravy" Podcast episode called “America’s Lost Peanut and the Price of Bringing it Back,”"Gravy" producer Otis Gray takes listeners on a journey through the history and revival of the nearly lost Carolina African Runner Peanut. The episode is inspired by the “Endangered Eating” book, and a chapter of that same title in the book — where Tonya’s commentary helped spark Otis’ mission and journey to find out what happened to America’s “first peanut” and the complex socio-cultural ( & culinary) challenges impacting it’s potntial comeback.
