  • The Old Stone House of Brooklyn 336 3rd Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

GET YOUR TIX!….Join us as we explore a tasting menu inspired by the Battle of Brooklyn, America’s first fight in the Revolutionary War!

Thursday, August 17th at 7pm at The Old Stone House of Brooklyn (OSH):

336 3rd St. Bklyn NYC 11215

Six wines with food to pair, plus a Revolutionary twist!

Learning our shared history via the multi sensory talismans of FOOD and DRINK is sooooo much more interesting and fun than learning about it via battles alone!.. BUT in this case there’s ALSO a great “BATTLE of BROOKLYN” (true!) tale to tell too — right on time for the 247th anniversary of THE FIRST MAJOR BATTLE that marked the beginning of our (then VERY new) nation’s War of Independence against Brittain which took place on August 27th, 1776 (and started — guess where?!) — that’s right, at and all around the site of The Old Stone House !…

Get YOUR TIX to TIME TRAVEL with The Food Griot (me!) featuring OSH Scholar in Residence Dylan Yeats and Good Wine Shop Owner/Chef Heather Johnston’s delectable dishes paired with 6 historically significant (and timelessly delicious) wines taught by wine Guru A.K. Brunson … AND during the dessert course special house-made hand pies by Bonbon Lakay!

Join me in my role as OSH’s Public History Advisor in conjunction with OSH’s Scholar in Residence, Dylan Yeats PhD. as we bring the past to the present while tasting wines that have stood the test of time . Bordeaux was called Claret back then, Riesling was known as “Hock”, George Washington’s and all of Colonial America’s fave wine for that matter was Madeira — which is a ‘character’ in the fascinating historical narrative we’ll be sharing with ‘poetics’ & ‘theatrics’ (think ‘dinner theater ‘of sorts) that will add even more fun and meaning to this memorable evening you won’t want to miss …

We’ll not only be exploring six time-tested wines on their own but also with delicious colonial-inspired food pairings. So be sure to let us know if you are gluten-free, vegan or vegetarian when you GET YOUR TIX
