Mark your calendars (and get your tix!) for this exciting event coming up soon!…
On Tuesday June 4th I’ll be part of a panel taking place at Les Dames d'Escoffier of New York's annual “The Next Big Sip” event .
This year’s theme is “Women in Cocktail Culinary Culture: The Past, Present, and Future” will explore how women played essential roles in shaping our most beloved cocktail party traditions as well as its ongoing culture and history.
Meet the Moderator & Panelists:
The topic is “Women & the Cocktail: “This panel will explore the historic connection of women and the cocktail, a retrospective look at the cocktail party – how it got started, why it came in and out of style, and the essential role that women have played”…. Moderated by Dr. Nicola Nice, author of the "Cocktail Parlor: How Women Brought the Cocktail Home”:
As the food & drink historian on the panel, my contribution to the conversation will center on “the symbiotic relationship between the cocktail and the oft overlooked culinary genre that is the hors d’oeuvre, appetizer, or cocktail snack”. I will also be talking about 1920s-era Harlem party pairings.
A spirited panel of women leaders from across the food, beverage, and hospitality industries will dive into the “passed,” present and future of cocktails and snacks, discussing everything from the sandwich-and-cup spreads of the Gilded Age and 1920s-era Harlem party pairings to martini-and-fries, and adult happy meals of today and beyond.
